Toshiba Officially Announced that 8-inch Silicon Substrate LED will be Mass-Produced in October 2012

Toshiba, a large semiconductor manufacturer in Japan, officially announced that it will adopt the technology with which it works with American Bridgelux to mass-produce silicon substrate LED chips, and adopt the semiconductor production line of Kaga Toshiba in northern Japan, the former 8-inch wafer factory. The mass production is scheduled to begin in October 2012.
At the early stage of mass production, products, including LED backlight products and lighting products, will gradually be launched. In the long term, the influence of sapphire substrate remains to be seen, but as to LED backlight products, the production in 8-inch wafer factory will be considerable.

Jingcheng Anthracite Mining Group Officially Put High-Power LED Project into Operation

On July 24, the journalist visited solid-state welding factory, package factory and assembly factory of Shenghao Optoelectronics Technology Company of Jingcheng Anthracite Mining Group. In the tidy and new assembly factory, workers in the space of a thousand square meters are busy on the assembly line, and power-saving lamps, one after another, are being turned into brand new products through their fingers.
It is known that, at present, the company has received fluorescent lamp orders from Henan Puyang, Taiyuan, and Jingcheng Anthracite Mining Group. And the production goes as planned and orderly. This project is to produce high-power LED products. It is jointly constructed by Shengtai Energy investment Co.,Ltd of Jingcheng Anthracite Mining Group and Dongguan Kunxiang Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. A total of 4 billion RMB yuan is planned to be invested into the project which will be divided into two phrases for construction.

IGreen Optronics Launched Diamond LED That Rivals with Samsung

Recently,IGreen Optronics, a manufacturer of Incubation Center of Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute, has issued "Super-wide color gamut display technology Super Diamond LED". Diamond LED has characteristics of high color saturation, high contrast, wide angle, long using life and is more power-saving. It supports the display technology of bright color and power saving demanded by mobile phones and tablet computers.
IGreen expressed that the display color gamut of Diamond LED technology can exceed 25% of that of AMOLED panel, and reach 135%of NTSC standard. Matched with the new low-power-consumption Silence, the power-saving technology developed by iGreen, Diamond LED can save power 20-50% more than traditional LCD panel and AMOLED panel.

Sanan Optoeletronics Successfully Entered Taiwan Market, and Its Turnover is Expected to Exceed Hundred Million RMB

Sanan Optoelectronics successfully entered Taiwan Market. According to the statistics, in the first half of 2012, the turnover of Sanan Optoelectronics in Taiwan was about 40 million RMB, and 10 million RMB in July. It is predicted by some institute that the turnover of Sanan Optoelectronics in Taiwan will exceed hundred million RMB, and thus Taiwan will be its target market at abroad.
Sanan expressed that package factories in Taiwan have high demand on chip factories in mainland China, such as high cost-effective products, stable qualities, good supply continuity, and package factories in Taiwan demand proper brightness, which is different from that of package factories in mainland.

SemiLEDs Introduced C35LED Light Sources with Extraordinary Color Control Technology

Recently, SemiLEDs has introduced a new series of C35 LED light sources, which adopt its EVLED (Enhanced Vertical (EVTM)) chips. C35 products are extraordinary in color control technology, low in heat resistance, and special in optical design which solves the yellow halos problem and is applicable to reflectors in the market.
C35 series is the first Color-Precision TM LED light source introduced by SemiLEDs. It narrows the white light classification range so that light color is well-distributed and solid-state lighting manufacturers are more flexible in color choices. Ellipticity of C35 MacAdam in the distribution of ANSI can be controlled in 7-step, 4 step, and 2-step, the lowest.

Silian Joined Hands with Chongqing Expressway to Seize LED Streetlight Market in China

Recently, Chian Silian Group joined hands with Chongqing Expressway to reorganize Chongqing Silian Transportation Technology Company to seize LED streetlight market in China.
In 2008, Silian Group took over Sapphire business in the Canadian factory of Honeywell. The factory of Silianopto (a subsidiary company of Silian Group) in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area has the capacity to produce 3 million 2-inch sapphire substrates, 1.2 billion LED package devices, and 20 million watt LED lightings.
According to Silian Group, these products will firstly put into use in Chongqing city. At present, about 20,000 streetlights in Beibei District have been replaced with soft and power-saving LED light sources, with a set of advanced centralized control systems for wireless network management. Sensors and wireless transmission technology are used for failure feedback and failure clearing. The brightness of lights can be set intelligently according to traffic stream and flow density. Therefore, the LED light sources can save 70% power, compared with traditional lightings, and their using life can reach 8 years, 1.5 times of the traditional lightings.

Philips Electronics Launched Agricultural LED Lighting Module

Philips Electronics Japan, Ltd (with its headquarter in Tokyo), the Japanese legal person of Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands displayed LED lighting module for greenhouse multilayer cultivation and plant factory in Japan Greenhouse Horticulture & Plant Factory Exhibition & Conference in 2012 (GPEC 2012). In Netherlands, the number of the cases that LED lighting is used as "the secondary light source" is creasing rapidly. Philips plans to exploit this usage in Japan.
In Japanese agriculture, LED lighting is used as "the primary light source" in most plant factories. However, in Netherland where agricultural innovation is being promoted, LED lighting is growingly used as "the secondary light source" to light up where sunlight can not reach.

Cree Launched 170lm/W LED Prototype Light Bulbs

On July 31, 2012, Shanghai, China—Cree, the market leader of LED lighting, announced that in less than a year after the successful launch of 152 lm/W concept LED light bulbs, Cree, with another performance benchmark, launched 170lm/W LED Prototype Light Bulbs. The innovative technology adopted in the high-performance 170lm/W LED Prototype Light Bulbs remarkably increases luminous efficiency and reduces the overall cost of lamps, and further presents Cree's continued efforts in accelerating LED lighting popularization by reducing original cost and payoff period.

Mean Well Launched New Economic LED Power Supplies

After the successful development of APV/APC-12/16 series, Mean Well further launched APV/APC-25/35 series of 25W/35W economic LED power supplies. The design concept of APV as constant voltage mode (C.V. Mode) and APC as constant current mode (C.C. Mode) is continued to be used in 25W/35W products with passive PFC design for low cost and more choices of lamp system designs for users.
APV/APC-25/35 can accept full range AV input and adopt the design of high frequency switching technology, with its working efficiency up to 84%. Therefore, the product can operate at an ambient temperature of -30~+70℃ by simply relying on the natural air cooling. APV/C-25(25W) is free of glue in the interior, while APV/C-35(35W) is irrigated in half of the interior with glue to enhance cooling effect and protect PCB at the same time. Therefore, it is wet-resistant and anti-dust.
